I discovered Decoupage

In this glorious New Year I have found myself drawn to vintage findings and beads, it’s like finally finding your own style….obviously this means I start looking at my wardrobe and a serious restyle is needed….charity shops for me all the way for some great finds so will keep you updated….

On the jewellery front I sold a really sweet necklace on Etsy, my first sale so really hoping the beautiful lady who bought it likes it…I shall drop her a note later making sure she received it safely….

I had some broken vintage earrings and a vintage diamante necklace which I fixed together with a strand of costume jewellery faux pearls to achieve this multi-strand necklace….very pretty.

After this I puchased a really pretty old blue and white pendant, it reminded me of old blue and white china cups and saucers.  I had a sparkly Swarovski crystal drop to use and again the same strand of costume faux pearls left over to create this one.

This one is still available for £15.00 plus postage…only one postage fee on any one order so feel free to buy more than one treasure to save on your postage my lovelies….

The collection is growing and I am loving it….

Our bed came from Wayfair this week, my goodness it is beautiful and we are getting the best sleeps!!  Do take into account if you go for this one the curl on the headboard, which we didn’t and have had to rearrange our room as it stands a little way out from the wall….now just a little too long for the space our old headboard-less bed used to live…we have adjusted, because I like it so much!!!

Most definitely need new bedding now though, I quite like getting new bedding and luckily prefer my bedding not to particularly match so can get lots of different vintage bits and pieces and share them with you later…

I didn’t realise the bed would be studded with huge diamante style buttons, my boudoir is coming along very nicely!!

I have the earring bug and guess what? Yes, I still have some of that strand of faux-pearls left…

These still available too….quite grand and very statement using pieces from a broken vintage bracelet…At this point I decided I would like to have something to keep these treasures in, or to send them out in so that the item is a little more special…I started to watch decoupage tutorials…

This little box was created, it is pretty, it was easy to do, I got to peel glue off my fingers which gave me school flashbacks, it looks aged so fits the vintage earrings very nicely so all in all, very, very pleased….the box and the earrings have now sold and will be travelling across the world to the United States to hopefully be enjoyed…

Each little box will have a little something added on the inside to make it a little different….

I have been watching furniture decoupage tutorials, the household here is rather concerned that they might wake up one morning to find roses on every available bit of flat surface…I will keep them guessing…

I already have my eye on the walls for something like this….

Yesterday we worked and worked and worked in the rain and cold, came home late and chilled with take away and Take Me Out…we all have crushes on Paddy, including Christopher…

This morning we awoke at normal 6am time, had a cup of tea leaning against that luscious headboard and then promptly went back to sleep again and woke up at 10am feeling like teenagers….I find myself now with the never ending laundry and tidying to do…before I sneak off again to the bead cupboard, I have some beautiful butterfly napkins to put onto the next little earrings box….let the fun commence!

And I passionately need some new clothes so perhaps another coffee and a little look at Ebay won’t hurt….

A Belated Happy New Year!

Oh my goodness it has been a little while, we are already a few days into 2016!  Time to update….

Having time to share some internet pictures, all the ones that I like, everybody went Facebook mad for a little pair of white crochet edged socks…

Now, I eventually tracked them down to a Russian Website which I then asked Google to translate and I will be attempting to buy a pair and try them out…the link is here – but if anyone can just tell by looking, the stitches used here can you let me know as so many people are asking and I am not crochet clever enough to work this one out.  When I do get some I shall share my findings with you.

I also discovered Andrea Singarella – I am totally in love with her style of jewellery.  I purchased her series of videos bought directly through the website and passworded and would hugely recommend, it has given me back the beading bug.  After all I do now have that big craft cupboard.

This is an example of Andrea’s work, don’t you love it!  She also sells through her website so go and take a look.  Especially if you are into all things vintage.

So, I filled the craft cupboard, not totally arranged yet but it is all in there.  Including Mollie Topshop….

I have had a little bit of a bead and tools buying session, most of it still to arrive, but hugely excited by it.

Finally finished Snowflakes on Silver Cove by Holly Martin.

Libby Joseph is famous for her romantic Christmas stories. Every December, readers devour her books of falling in love against the magical backdrop of the Christmas season. If only Libby believed in the magic herself…

Struggling to finish her current novel, Libby turns to her best friend and neighbour George Donaldson to cheer her up. But George also needs a bit of support himself. Nervous about getting back into the dating saddle after splitting from his wife, he and Libby strike a deal. She will teach George how to win over the ladies, and Libby will in turn be inspired to inject her novel with a good dose of romance.

As Libby and George explore the beautiful White Cliff Bay on a series of romantic Christmas-themed dates, Libby finds herself having more fun than she’s had in ages and…discovers feelings that she never knew she had for George.

But is it too late? Will George win someone else’s heart or can Libby act like the heroine in one of her stories and reach for her own love under the mistletoe this Christmas?

I loved this one as much as the last one, Holly’s mix of characters were as entertaining as ever and I loved the crossover with the previous novel including some of those characters.  The characters are all really really lovely and pretty endearing  and I love White Cliff Bay…I do wonder if Holly has based this on somewhere she has visited or if it is a wondrous place created in her mind…my favourite bit?? The pool table was interesting…

You can buy it here Snowflakes on Silver Cove: A festive, feel-good Christmas romance: Volume 2 (White Cliff Bay)

or if you want to start with the first one you can buy that one here Christmas at Lilac Cottage: A perfect romance to curl up by the fire with: Volume 1 (White Cliff Bay)

I now find myself bookless and awaiting two more to read in the post, I will of course share them when they arrive.

Then it was time to catch up with some cooking…the Christmas chocolate is nearly all gone now…we find ourselves sighing with relief really, even though it was good whilst it lasted.

I dug out my Deliciously Ella Cookbook – which you can find here –Deliciously Ella: Awesome ingredients, incredible food that you and your body will love in an attempt to get back to healthy again.  Now I have a proper food processor I can try them all!

You can find Ella’s recipe here.

I had no flax seed or nuts so used sunflower seeds ground up in the processor, I also had no hemp protein powder.  But you can see the results of mine up there on the right, they are actually really very nice and taste like a chocolate truffle.  I have a batch in the freezer to take out when we fancy them, big success.  Don’t copy Ella and roll these beauties up whilst holding your pet though, it is a pretty messy job and I hate getting sticky fingers…(my daughter says “that’s what she said” which is apparently the modern version of “the actress said to the bishop” I prefer the oldies version personally).

Finally, what I had been waiting for, time to get the beads out and try some creating….

I love to take old broken jewellery and make it into something new….I had a red rose vintage necklace which has helped create some wonderfully exquisite red dangle earrings.

A bib tie necklace got a bit of vintage bling (the necklace I think originally Monsoon).

I had a go at making a double strand bracelet and was pretty pleased.  Using a really old watering can and pearl bracelet, a string of daisies was added to make it really spring like.  I love this one and will be making some similar items soon.

I finally opened an Etsy shop so you will find everything I have available in there….it was easy and so far no problems, so initially hugely recommended, I have found some great supplies in there too…

Pink Cobwebs Etsy Shop

Please do visit and if you have any questions please fire away.  I have bought some vintage decoupage supplies to make some little jewellery gift boxes and again will share when I have a go at them….

Onto beds…..I shared a selection on  a previous post as we were trying to decide on a new bed….after much deliberation and pouting on my part, we have chosen this one…

Bought from Wayfair at very reasonable cost with free delivery.  Due to arrive around Thursday, fingers crossed!  Watch this space, I might have to buy new bedding for the whole experience!  I might also have to get Christopher to enter the boudoir wearing a frilly shirt in the style of Poldark….there will be no pictures of this….

And that’s about it for the catchup!  A very Happy New Year from Mollie Topshop and Timmy Twoshoes the felines of the family!

Love from Geri x
