Moments in Twine Yarn Stash Buster…

My favourite crochet pattern of the day….

1

You will find this one in the Moments In Twine Etsy Shop.

I love that you can use up all your left over wool and create a beautiful bohemian afghan blanket in the process….oh yes, another on my ever growing list of things to do!  I am still awaiting lilac wool to complete my holiday poncho, but am spending my time decorating a gypsy skirt…

My favourite online place of the day…..

Lucy at Attic 24

This picture this morning inspired me to stride off to the shop in power walk mode to get something to enjoy with a cup of coffee….and get fresh air and exercise in the process.  If you have a passion for crochet and for colour, get the coffee on, treat yourself to a slice of cake and click on the link above and spend some browsing time, inspiring yourself….I can guarantee it’s joyful reading and planning time….

And my favourite quote of the day…..

1

We can’t tell on face value who is struggling the most so do keep it simple….be kind to everyone….oh indeed it can be a challenge but selfishly it’s very rewarding….

Much love to everyone, have a grand and fabulous weekend caring for each other.

A Crocheted Simplicity Crochet Bag….

il_570xN.863321482_3aja

Today this is my favourite crochet pattern!

I’m still waiting for the extra ball of wool to continue with my holiday poncho….fingers crossed it will arrive today.  This bag is certainly going on my shopping list….

Today we have massive winds here on the North Cornwall coast….first thing I battled my way out with the bins…cursing Christopher for being away on bin day….sat smugly eating my cereal, then a little light bulb pinged in my head….bin day is tomorrow….I got my coat and boots on again and struggled my way back to the front gate to bring the bags in again….sat to eat my cereal, glanced out the window to see a chair sliding its way across the decking towards me…..then a blur of black across the garden like a frisbee….there goes the bin lid which incidentally had a large rock sitting on it to keep it on….Out again, bin lid nowhere to be seen….

Now I’m a little windswept, I’m surprised I managed to keep my glasses!

For Valentine’s day I have treated myself to a new book, you have to keep yourself pampered…..

Simply Stitched with Appliqué: Embroidery Motifs and Projects with Linen, Cotton and Felt (Hardware Included)

Now I haven’t done any embroidery or applique so hoping this will point me in the right direction, I really fancy decorating clothes, particularly skirts with a little more than crochet edging….so far it looks like it might be just what I need….but I will update as I work through it….

1

The crochet edging has been started here but this will become embroidery practice piece….

Still working through downsizing, yesterday I listed this….

I love it! I had bought it for my holiday but it’s a shame it’s too small for me….you will find it here….

Happy Valentines Day xxx

Hearts and Flowers…

As Valentine’s day quickly approaches it had to be hearts and flowers today.  Don’t get me wrong, I am an old cynic and we don’t get each other cards….but it’s a good enough excuse to treat yourself….do we need an excuse to do that?  Anyway some of my favourite finds….just click on the picture to find your way to the source…

A groovy heart pattern for you, crochet of course….

1

I do love the bright colours in these….what great bunting this would create!

Now who needs an excuse to buy boots….not me….now I know these don’t have hearts or flowers on them, but they are red! Surely that counts….

1

Oh my days I am loving these, I struggle with heels but I think I could manage this!  You will find these at Joe Browns now, or if you are like me you might hope they end up in the sale….doesn’t always work quite like that though….

If you really need a treat splash out and buy yourself chocolates and roses….

1

You can’t go wrong with Marks and Spencers however, me, I’m just as happy with cheap flowers from the supermarket, it’s really what you do with them that counts.

So if I’m having cheap flowers I should treat myself for something for the house…..I found what I want….

1

Oh yay!! An Emma Bridgewater radio….dare I admit, I have no Emma Bridgewater items and I absolutely always love her things when I find them….

Update on lilac poncho, I have a neck hole and only five more squares to do….

1

This pattern has worked out perfectly for me as my crochet style has turned out to be messy and make it up as you go along….I don’t think all the practice in the world is going to make me a tidy crocheter….but I will continue to try!  I do believe you should have your own style though, don’t try to copy someone else, do your own thing….

This one is for Christopher…..treat this as your card me love….

CARO Created Valentines Crochet…..

I am hugely enjoying finding crochet patterns for you at the moment…..with Valentine’s day on the way how about this one?

1

You will find this one from CARO created on Etsy.

This mandala is worked in overlay crochet technique. This technique is deeply rooted in cable and Aran crochet. Overlay crochet created a symmetric textured design.

Measurements: Approx. 26 cm(10 inches) round…finished…

The pattern features detailed instructions – 19 pages. Each round of the mandala will be explained through a written instruction and one or more pictures.

I am eight squares away from finishing poncho and ready to shape the neckline and give it some tassels.  Having a great time learning how to make things.

One more item in the Ebay shop…..a very cool dreamcatcher top which I bought and it doesn’t fit me…..more to come tomorrow!

Vintage 70’s Crochet Maxi Dress Pattern…

1

I absolutely adore most vintage crochet patterns….there’s just something so essentially right about it….it’s timeless and yet retro all at the same time.

This pattern is from Kinzie Wool Shop on Etsy, I love the look of it…..I know, I know, I haven’t finished the lilac poncho yet….but I need a ready list of “next projects” Doesn’t everyone do that??

Georgia’s art project is coming along nicely….she has based it on the technique used by Elspeth Mclean

1

Now, art isn’t her favourite subject mainly because every time she hands anything in she seems to be told to change it or do something else to it…..correct me if I’m wrong, I thought art was an individual thing, a place to express things the way you see them, the way you want to do them….I think maybe this GCSE should be renamed Drawing and Painting Techniques because it surely is not Art…..anyway, I really like this and when it’s finished and she gets it back it’s going on my wall!

Definition of art: the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.

So, the snow, (the teeny tiny bit we had) has all melted but it will soon be time to light the fire….break out the wool and get hooking….

More Morale Fiber, Spiral Sweater…

1

As you know….I WILL finish each project before starting another so I haven’t quite bought this one yet, but it’s on the list!

Again this one is from Morale Fiber on Etsy and I fancy this one in deep orange or deep red……

For now I’m still on that lilac poncho and loving it….

1

Thinking ahead….as I am prone to do….I am trying out Mollie Makes as I was looking for a magazine with mixed crafts so that I can have a go at other things….after the initial flick through, so far so good….it looks interesting and quite exciting….

1

And today here in North Cornwall it snowed for the first time in ages….it has just stopped and not settled here but it was pretty to see…..
