The Warrior

Call it what you will,
Depression, anxiety.
I needed a label
For the dark shadow inside of me.
I wanted a name
For the troubled thoughts in my head.
That came out of nowhere
At night in my bed.
I sought some advice
This just made me cynical
When two sessions in
I was told it’s just clinical.
Keep taking the tablets
Don’t feel any shame
We can’t suggest anything
With no trauma to blame.
So I started to read
And research and to learn
That the things I filled my head with
Were a cause for concern.
Negative headlines
News filled with sadness
Movies and video games
Just violent madness.
So I made some small changes
I took matters in hand.
Your car wouldn’t run
If you fuelled it with sand.
I accept medication
As one of my tools.
But I now help myself
With a new set of rules.
Positive thinking,
Helping my mood.
Changing my diet
And I don’t mean just food.
We all have our places
On this spectrum of life.
So feed your brain goodness
When evil seems rife.
Respect one another
Happy thoughts, keep in mind
Don’t ever make judgments
Be yourself and stay kind.

Be Patient…

When they say there is no point
It will never be completed.
That’s when you have to step up your game,
Don’t you ever feel defeated.

The greatest achievers in history,
Didn’t always make the grade.
But they got back up, they bounced right back,
Not beaten, just delayed.

Where would we be if they gave up
When the door slammed in their face.
There would be no planes, no electric lights,
No satellites in space.

You might not be a genius, in the true sense of the word.
But every single one of us
Has life dreams to be heard.

Our children they look up to us
So don’t forget to praise them.
Show them nature, teach them grace,
Tell stories to amaze them.

No matter their physical abilities,
Or the mind battles they face.
Every one of them is brilliant
Don’t make them change their pace.

Nothing is impossible,
No challenges can’t be met.
Have some belief, head high, be strong,
It just hasn’t happened yet.

It will…

Home….

“Home” is now available as a PDF downloadable print in my Etsy shop. Click on picture for the link. I have added to it a vintage artwork illustration which has had some digital enhancement and additions.

I hope you love them. x

The Butterfly Tribe…

I have written so many poems now that I am trying to organise them and put them somewhere. Above you will find the link to my Etsy shop where these two PDF prints can be purchased to print onto A4 paper. I love that you can print it yourself at home, put it in a budget frame and it refreshes your wall art straight away. More poems will be available soon!

Busy Learning!

I have been busy learning how to print my poems and how you can purchase them…..

You can now purchase the PDF so that you can download to your computer, print it out and pop it in your own frame. Or you can purchase the framed print through my Etsy shop. I am using Printful, I will need some feedback on the quality and the packaging so if any of you lovelies do purchase the framed version I would love the hear the feedback.

A link for you below to check it out, just click on the picture. Should you see any weirdness that I need to change it would be great if you would comment below.

Friendships…

We have this low maintenance friendship,

It feels natural, it feels fine.

The distance means you have your life,

And I continue living mine.

We see each other occasionally

And no matter how long it’s been,

It feels like only yesterday,

Just five minutes in between.

Friendships come and friendships go.

That’s life to be quite fair.

But you’re a constant factor

And I know you’re always there.

Distant friends can mean so much.

Make an effort to hold on.

Virtual hugs and words of love

Are bricks to build upon.

And when you get together

Catch up on all the times.

What’s been happening in your life?

Whilst I’ve been busy living mine.

Water Your Own Grass…

No matter what you see,
No matter what you think.
I can assure you that not all my cobwebs are pink.
I sigh like you, cry like you
Can’t get to sleep like you
And so many times I have teetered at the brink.
But as you get older, gather wisdom,
You learn
The simple things come cheap
When you’ve no money to burn.
Always have dreams, the biggest are best.
But keeping your feet on the ground
Is the hardest of tests.
Keep looking for joy in the smallest of things.
Hold on to the friends with no obvious strings.
Take a walk, get fresh air
If you’ve nowhere to go.
Notice the birds and the trees
Feel your well being grow.
If your Instagram feed
Is full of luxury cars
Tropical holidays and cocktails and bars.
Remember these are highlights they want you to see.
They have bad days and sad days
Just like you and me.
Water your own grass to make it get greener.
Making plans of your own
So you’re not just a dreamer.

Your Bus…

The journey starts, the bus is full
The destination is hazy.
I’m not sure where I want to go
But I’ll go the way it takes me.

Passengers get on and then get off
With so many things to teach.
I now know where I want to go
But it’s completely out of reach.

Then I realise it’s getting close
But I can’t convince the driver.
I ask for help but unfortunately
They don’t want to go there either.

A new passenger sits beside me
And says “no ifs, no buts!”
“To get to where you want to be
You just have to drive the bus!”

And suddenly it seems so simple
This is the pathway to my goal.
I can’t let others lead me there
I have to take control.

Sit myself in the driving seat
And grab the wheel so tight.
Set the Sat Nav, change my course
And drive with all my might.

Don’t leave another person
To map out your hot pursuit.
This is your bus, you are in charge
And you decide the route.
