The Chub Rub Club…

1a

I have been wearing some very baggy cycling style cotton shorts under skirts but my goodness, I am already getting menopausal sweats so this has been no help.

Yesterday I received some shorts from Snag Tights (not an ad or a paid link).

They were really nicely packed and came really quickly but when I opened them I thought Good Lord I am never fitting into those.  I have flung my reading specs on top of them to give an indication of the size.  Anyway, they felt really nice and quality so I have put them on.  Absolutely not a struggle, they don’t feel tight and they are amazingly comfy.  They come in all sizes because the elusive thigh gap is not a given for a smaller lady…even when much fitter, I never had one…And you can only appreciate the need for something like this after you have actually felt the pain…it can’t be put into words..

Anyway, I’m off out into the world now to walk about a bit and see if it works…so far so good….I will be back…

Enjoying Less….

1c

If there is one thing this house moving is highlighting, it is that happiness is most definitely not in the amount of things we own.  But oh how old habits are so hard to break.  Cleaning out the cupboards found four boxes of cornflour, all opened and maybe used once….a multitude of tubes of tomato puree, it seems I have a blind spot for it when I check to see if I have any to use.

We have sent bags and bags of things to the charity shop, we have sold some things, we have tipped some things but I still find myself packing things in boxes I know I won’t use….I’m seeing this as my donation to the charity shop in the next town we are moving to…

Don’t be deceived by how organised this looks….the boxes from my craft cupboard all contain things I don’t use or need, a project yes for the next house.

My living area is full of boxes here and I’m currently not missing any anxiety medication….yes, if all of this stuff makes me anxious then surely doing away with most of it will indeed bring some calm…

I have even been changing my skin routine…oh yes, don’t we all have so many pots and bottles of lotions and potions…all in plastic containers which we have had for years…I will let you into a little secret…I never use shower wash…just too many chemicals…our bodies are pretty good at looking after themselves and I find an exfoliating mitt is fine.  I discovered lately that even though I absolutely love Liz Earle cleanse and polish and yes I will treat myself to it now and again, it is actually the exfoliating cloths which are the real heroes…now the Liz cloths get soft far too quickly for me…I am a psoriasis sufferer and I get it on my face (I got it on my face about a week after the doctor told me not to worry that I wouldn’t get it on my face…) Anyway, I have found the most fabulous exfoliating cloth and I am currently using it with absolutely no face products, I use it twice a day and it’s the best my skin has ever been!

It is the Amazing Exfoliator, I got mine on Amazon and I see it also being sold as a tan remover…. Oh my goodness my things on the bathroom shelf just got so much tidier… I finally gave in and realise I really don’t like the way make up feels so I only have a face powder (to hide the menopausal shine), and eye liner (when I am feeling exotic and I need to look like I made an effort) and a lip balm…

I only need one perfume…I only need one brush…I packed all of my underwear except for three sets…it seems that’s all I need…I have one pair of boots, I have one pair of flip flops, one pair of nice sandals (I do have to socialise now and again), I have a pair of trainers (light walks) and a pair of walking boots (longer walks).

I need a small handbag and a large handbag…and an overnight bag…

Back to the packing for now…but keeping you up to date with how the downsizing helps the anxiety…watch this space…

Whose Idea Was it to Move…

1b

And for this very reason it will be short and sweet today….Mondays are always busy because our warehouse is closed over the weekend and I have a weekends worth of wetsuits to send out…I also have some jewellery to pack and send.

1

The packing goes on and I am ever grateful that we decided to start decluttering ages ago…it would have been a nightmare…We STILL have things we don’t use so it is an ongoing process.  Also memories, this comes with going through your things…finding things that make you shed a tear…oh dear oh dear…some things just will not be thrown away…

I am still going through my jewellery stash and listing mainly on Etsy, even though you will find some 99p auctions on Ebay also, along with wetsuits, shoes, clothes, bags…anything we no longer need.  Tabs up top as always.

I do have a bit of a thing for silver, this necklace currently still available (Etsy) and comes with matching earrings….very cute…

Lots to do, cheers and gone x

Thank you for supporting a small business…

1

I don’t have a small business as such, I have a collecting hobby and sometimes I have too many things so some of them have to go….and I let them go willingly to spark joy with someone else…But, I do love the whole “Etsy thing”…I love that people make such beautiful things, or they have found or collected beautiful vintage things that should not be thrown away….

So, I am going to start bringing to your attention my favourite Etsy finds (these will be #affiliate links because I work hard to find them for you).  If you have an Etsy shop and I haven’t found you yet, for goodness sake make yourself known to me, I am more than happy to add you to my list of favourite shops.

Don’t forget when Etsy shopping to check the postage before purchasing, some high posting costs do make it worthwhile limiting your shopping to the country you are already living in….

Here we go….I currently have over 300 favourite shops so I’m just going to bring you my favourite things from all of them….not all at once today….let’s not get overwhelmed….

This beauty is from Vintage Magnifique on Etsy.  It is currently £24.48 and located in The United States even though the seller will post overseas for you.   There is a large selection of beautiful vintage jewellery especially catering for Brides, Bridesmaids and Proms…or just if you like to treat yourself to something special.  This gorgeous piece is from the 1950s….a great jewellery era.  The shop is run by Kimberly in Cupertino, CA, United States.

The pieces in this shop are absolutely beautiful….Poppy In the Sky shop based in France.  As far as I can see, very reasonable postage…showing as Freepost to us in the UK.  Here you will also find some gorgeous little gnome and fairy doors….I have a new garden soon so I might be visiting here myself….

And here some original boho earrings from Jeweliansun based in Ohio in the United States.  This shop is run by Cathy who brings you an array of colourful earrings made with soldered tin….please do go pay her a visit.

That’s my bit for today my lovelies…don’t forget to contact me if you have an Etsy shop…I do love a good browse…and just sometimes a purchase…

Cheers and gone x

Every Day I’m Snufflin’ …

1d

Yes indeed I am back with another update….3 days in a row….

Let it be said that even though I totally love the sunny weather, I’m just not sleeping well in it….yes, the dreaded pollen….I don’t mind the sneezing, I don’t tend to get watery eyes, I don’t mind the nose blowing….it’s the itching I can’t bear….my throat! My tongue feels about five times too big for my mouth and the roof of my mouth….another story altogether…Anyway, holding it together to enjoy the sunshine.

The Mundic report as of yesterday has sorted itself out, no, we don’t need a Mundic report for a natural slate built house….good news and thanks to the original Navy guy owner who built a quality building and didn’t take the cheap route.

1c

Of course, as always, I feel I am completely behind schedule and you just know in the last few days before moving you will be cramming half the house into unlabelled boxes never to be seen again….Anyway, Bedroom 3 has empty cupboards, bed stripped ready to dismantle and curtains coming down later on today…an almost emptied room, there is a start…

I still have some treasures to sort through, trying hard not to find anymore for a few weeks whilst the house move goes through…then I will be back to treasure hunting again very soon, it’s an obsession I like to indulge in….New things are all well and good but let’s just appreciate all the things already out there circulating around this world, they are beautiful, they are preloved and have a story to tell and deserve to continue on giving people those sparks of joy.  Go to Pink Cobwebs Etsy Shop to browse through my current findings….or click on the Ebay tab above to navigate to my Ebay shop where I am selling all of the things I need to sell to downsize…there are bargains galore, I just need the space!

For now I am off to our warehouse to bundle up the wetsuits and watersports stuff you all require…the link is here: Mad Monkey Surf Shop – but do be aware we are finishing this business to do other things so once it has gone, it’s gone….

Then later a trip to Wadebridge, something to do with van wheels, and maybe a little trip to Crackington Haven for a swift tonic water….maybe a gin…

Let the Sun Shine…

1d

So, we finally have some sunshine, yay!  I said I would put something in here every day, no matter how short and sweet, so here we go…

The garden is looking beautiful here, the roses are appearing and the pears are plentiful on the trees….but, it’s not daunting in the slightest that we will be moving to a garden where we will have to replicate this all over again…the joy is in the challenge and the joy is in the leaving this for someone else to love…

1c

I have boxes everywhere indoors and probably filling them slower than I should, I have a multitude of things listed for sale….pop up to the Etsy and Ebay tabs above…but be sure to come back again….

Mollie keeps making me jump leaping from random boxes, she won’t go into her cat box that easily when the time comes….Both cats loving the sun….Mollie, the queen on her blanket and Timmy the tomboy on her cardboard box…

As with any house sale there will always be hiccups….a mundic report? Who knew there was such a thing….maybe everybody except me…

Anyway, apparently from 1900 to 1960s, in Cornwall, houses started to be built using mundic blocks, which in some cases are deteriorating….luckily our house was made of natural stone…so hopefully this should all sort itself out soon… Google it if you never heard of it….pretty historically interesting…

Talking of history, I found all the paper work for this property dating back to 1898ish….when it was a plot of land (an orchard garden) until around 1925 when the guy who came here from being in the Navy at Devonport decided to build on it.  There was even one owner of the property with the same surname as me, even though I can’t find them in my family tree so likely not related.

Christopher told me the story about a lady turning up at the house when it was being renovated because she used to live here….we believe she was the daughter of the Naval officer….she showed him the room she was born in…..fascinating….

Onwards now with packing and suchlike….have a beautiful sunny day…x
